Hottest New Companies

Video on the Web Summit - San Jose - June 28th.

There are few things as exhilarating and gut wrenching as pitching Venture Capitalist - in PUBLIC. You put it all out there - and then you get to hang out while they puzzle about the industry, your take, the market, and your presentation. I can be quite daunting. That's why when David Burstein invite us to pitch at the Best New Ideas session at Video on the Web i was a bit wary.

But then, looking at the panel of judges - you can't help but say yes. And when you find out that both Om Malik (GigaOM) and Liz Gannes (New Tee Vee) will be the hosts, it's kind of a no brainer. You just say yes.

So that bring me to San Jose. And a stage full of VC's.

And of course, I get to go FIRST (ugh).

I have to say - it was pretty fun. The crowd was engaged, the tech worked, the crowd and VC's laughted (in the right places) and the comments were pretty solid. Here's a blog post that recounts the interchange pretty well - (as the guy on stage you hardly ... [More]

The New York Team!

June 19, 2007 - Steve Rosenbaum
Last Thursday Magnify.net was invited to participate in the iBreakfast WEB2 conference at Fordham. The day started with a thought provoking talk by Esther Dyson. But the day started with our booth:

Gabriel Blanco and Ken Berger were manning the Magnify.net booth - and they did us proud. Working with a steady stream of visitors and potential partners. It was fun to watch folks dip their toe in the video water and then get genuinely excited about the future of video on the web.

Back to the program. As a long time participant in PC forum, I've come to appreciate Ester's ability to look around corners and be able to explore the future. For of what she's focused on - just look upward. She was off to her latest offering flight school - a conference about space exploration - but that wasn't the focus of her talk. The focus was Facebook...Esther talk focused on 3 things - Facebook mirroring the real world, Facebook changing the business model and Facebook supporting the attention e... [More]

New Features - New Toys!

June 02, 2007 - Steve Rosenbaum
So, we've been working under the hood -- and that means new features to give you guys. Some big, some small, and some super-beta, but all delicious and good.

First:
Bug Fixes. As you've requested, the "Add to Playlist" drop down has been fixed; now when you add the videos at the bottom of the page to a playlist, even if you've got a number of playlists, they don't get cut off by the page footer. Those of you who are power-users have been frustrated with this -- so now it's all better.

While we're talking about playlists -- we've removed the 15 video limit on playlists -- so now you can build as large a playlist as you feel like.

And we've added a bunch of clearer search examples in the FAQ: http://www.magnify.net/support/faq/metasearch

Also, for admins, there's now an 'admin options' link on every video in the admin content page. Small but very helpful.

New Features:
Ads: We're now beta-testing a process to let your visitors actually become part of your advertising network. You may have noticed a new "Put a Video Ad On This Site" link on your player page. This is a service that ties to Google Ad Words, so the ads created and uploaded here are actually part of you... [More]
