New Features - New Toys!

June 02, 2007 - Steve Rosenbaum
So, we've been working under the hood -- and that means new features to give you guys. Some big, some small, and some super-beta, but all delicious and good.

First:
Bug Fixes. As you've requested, the "Add to Playlist" drop down has been fixed; now when you add the videos at the bottom of the page to a playlist, even if you've got a number of playlists, they don't get cut off by the page footer. Those of you who are power-users have been frustrated with this -- so now it's all better.

While we're talking about playlists -- we've removed the 15 video limit on playlists -- so now you can build as large a playlist as you feel like.

And we've added a bunch of clearer search examples in the FAQ: http://www.magnify.net/support/faq/metasearch

Also, for admins, there's now an 'admin options' link on every video in the admin content page. Small but very helpful.

New Features:
Ads: We're now beta-testing a process to let your visitors actually become part of your advertising network. You may have noticed a new "Put a Video Ad On This Site" link on your player page. This is a service that ties to Google Ad Words, so the ads created and uploaded here are actually part of your AdSense rev share! Pretty cool. BTW, if you don't want to participate, you can shut this link off in your admin control panel, under Account > Advertising > Advertiser Invite Link.)

Ad Placements: We've added new ad placements in the home page design tool, so you can now include AdSense ads on your channel's home page.

COPA Age Restrictions: Ability to restrict underage users. We've added an optional age check at sign in so that you can block visitors under the age of 13 from posting to boards or voting. This feature can be found in the Admin/Advanced menu.

And -- STATS are back!
We know. You waited. You were patient. And now we've got a new stats server with far more robust features that should let you get all the data you want, when you want it.

We're hard at work on more site customization, more video sources, better control of the slider voting, and a new back end-advertising integration system. All part of our Summer of Code festivities. So don't be shy! If you've got features or ideas, make sure you're part of the conversation on the Boards. We're always up for some new folks to join in and explore.
