SF Day 2

May 05, 2007 - Steve Rosenbaum
The day started with a Venture firm we've been talking to. I'm not going to list them here, because - well - because you just don't. But i will start a bit of a contest. It's called "where in the world is Steve". And when i can - i'll shoot a photo out a window. Of course, nothing too obvious - that would ruin the puzzle. So, here's where i am this morning. DSC00372.JPG Great View! That's a clue enough. Anyway - lunch was with Scott and I and Tod Sacerdoti of Brightroll. There is so much brainpower going into figure out video ads on the web, and Todd is one of the smartest guys i've met. Tod went to both Stanford and Yale (MBA, BA Economcis) - and he's got very analytical take on space. Always good to hear his point of view. After lunch - more Venture folks... no photo here so you'll have to just take a wild guess.

And then an hour with Eric Auchard at Reuters. Eric has been covering tech for more than 12 years - both in NY and SF - so he's got the long view of this very cyclical space. It's rare that you learn as much from a reporter as you share with him... but i left Eric feeling like i wish he'd publish a list of stock picks. He seems to know where things are heading. And finally - Dinner with Marry Hodder at Dabble. There was a time when everyone thought that Dabble and Magnify.net were competitors - but i don' t think Mary or I ever thought that. Dabble is a data intensive business that is quickly corning the market on understanding where UGV lives. Using social bookmarking - and a great UI - Dabble has an uber-index that makes video search work for partner sites. I think Mary is one of the most forward thinking and charming people in the tech space... and it's always good to get a chance to hang with her and schmooze about where all this is going.
