The New York Team!

June 19, 2007 - Steve Rosenbaum
Last Thursday Magnify.net was invited to participate in the iBreakfast WEB2 conference at Fordham. The day started with a thought provoking talk by Esther Dyson. But the day started with our booth:

Gabriel Blanco and Ken Berger were manning the Magnify.net booth - and they did us proud. Working with a steady stream of visitors and potential partners. It was fun to watch folks dip their toe in the video water and then get genuinely excited about the future of video on the web.

Back to the program. As a long time participant in PC forum, I've come to appreciate Ester's ability to look around corners and be able to explore the future. For of what she's focused on - just look upward. She was off to her latest offering flight school - a conference about space exploration - but that wasn't the focus of her talk. The focus was Facebook...Esther talk focused on 3 things - Facebook mirroring the real world, Facebook changing the business model and Facebook supporting the attention economy. (here's her blog post on the same subject: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/esther-dyson/release-09-not_b_51959.html. It was a great way to start the day - and given that we had just spend days deep in the Facebook developers code working on our soon to be released facebook app - it was good to hear that other smart folks think its as important as we do. Next, it was panel time. With the Honorable Shelly Palmer presiding - and panelists Jack Myers (www.mediavillage.com) and Kara Nortman (IAC) and of courses - me Steve Rosenbaum, representing Magnify.net. Ok - it was somewhat wild - with a debate about the overall importance of technology vs. community taking center stage. Shelly never fails to whip up the crowd -and a good time was had by all.

But most importantly -
